How to Set a Fancy Dinner Table

How to Set a Fancy Dinner Table

You can turn an ordinary table into a fancy dinner table with the addition of a few tablecloths and dinnerware. Fancy table settings that look appealing are the first step to the perfect dinner. The dinnerware should sparkle and the silverware should be rubbed to a shine with a clean, dry towel before being placed on the dinner table. Once you have the dishes and flatware shiny, it is time to set a fancy dinner table for your special guests. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Place a white, round tablecloth down on the table. Add a touch of elegance by placing a smaller, square, black, linen cloth over the white tablecloth. The black tablecloth should be at least two or three sizes smaller than the white so that the square drapes over the table's sides 1 or 2 inches.

    2

Set the number of plates that you need on the table. Center each plate so that it is in the center of a corresponding chair.

    3

Place a dinner fork on the left side of each plate; place the smaller salad forks to the left of the dinner forks.

    4

Place a dinner knife on the right side of each dinner plate with the curved blade facing the plate.

    5

Place soup spoons next to the dinner knives; position each spoon to the knife's right side.

    6

Lay dessert spoons facing left to right above each dinner plate if you plan to serve dessert.

    7

Place a bread plate above the dinner fork on the left side of each dinner plate.

    8

Lay the butter knives across the bread plates with the knife blades pointed to the left.

    9

Place one wine glass to the left of each dinner plate just above the dinner knife and a water glass to the right of each wine glass.

    10

Fold the square black napkins into triangles and center one on each dinner plate.
