How to Make Table Arrangements for a Rehearsal Dinner

How to Make Table Arrangements for a Rehearsal Dinner

Beyond the food, drink and pranks pulled off by the best man, the rehearsal dinner is one of many gifts that a couple will present the people taking part in their wedding. Put a personalized finishing touch on each rehearsal dinner table by designing and creating the table arrangements. Use the theme and color scheme of the wedding to inspire the table arrangements, then give them away as door prizes or thank you gifts to some of the guests.

Instructions

Floral Arrangements

    1

Purchase a vessel to hold the flowers, such as a glass vase or flower pot.

    2

Fill glass vases either with water or florist beads. Florist beads are small, gelatinous beads that add a splash of color while holding flower stems or branches in place.

    3

Fill smaller vessels, such as flower pots or wooden boxes, with florist foam. Florist foam is a stiff block of green foam that can hold stems in their place in the arrangement.

    4

Trim the stems from the flowers to no longer than 12 inches. Guests should be able to see and hold a conversation with the person across from them without being blocked by the centerpiece.

    5

Arrange the flowers in the vessel, starting with the tallest flowers in the middle of the arrangement and working outward. Use green leaves or draping foliage on the outside edges of the arrangement.

    6

Trim the stems off of very large flowers and float them with the heads facing up in a shallow bowl of water.

Candle Arrangements

    7

Choose candles that reflect the colors of the wedding or that go with the decor of the rehearsal dinner venue.

    8

Arrange pillar candles inside large glass candle holders, lanterns or even a birdcage for something more whimsical.

    9

Arrange a group of glass candle holders in the middle of the table, each one holding a tea light. A grouping of identical candle holders will create an elegant look, or mix and match glasses, jars and cups of different sizes, shapes and colors for something more unique.

    10

Choose a platform for the candle arrangements. The platform should be flat, such as a plate or a piece of glass. Use a mirror as the platform to reflect the light of the candles.
