How to Entertain at a Dinner Table

Finding ways to keep your dinner guests entertained at the table isn't always an easy task. People easily lose interest in conversation and sometimes sit in awkward silence when they don't know what to say. Don't let your guests sit in silence the next time you host a dinner party. Collect as many small pieces of paper as you have dinner guests. If you have five guests, you will need five pieces of paper. Include yourself and make sure the paper is small enough to fit underneath a dinner plate.

Write a random, crazy sentence on each piece of paper. The crazier the better.

Slide one piece of paper under each person's plate after the table is set.

Ask each person at the table to read the paper under their plate. They are not to share the sentence with anyone else or read it out loud.

Tell your guests they should use the sentence on their card naturally during conversation during dinner. The point is for the guests to try to use the sentence without anyone else knowing they used it. The goal of the game is to try to determine when a person has used her sentence. Once it is pointed out that her sentence has been used, that person is out. Whoever falsely accuses a person of using her sentence when they had not is out. The person who uses her sentence undetected wins.

Kiss Me Now

Produce a stuffed animal at dinner and introduce it to the guests with a name. For example, "This is Mr. Lucky."

Pass the stuffed animal to the person on your right and instruct them to kiss the stuffed animal anywhere they wish. Then allow the person to their right to do the same until all guests have kissed the stuffed animal. Once the animal has been kissed in a particular place it cannot be kissed there again.

Instruct your guests to kiss the person on the left in the same place that they kissed the stuffed animal.
