How to Donate a Pool Table

A pool table can provide fun and relaxation for people of all ages. After owning a pool table for some time, a pool table owner may decide they want to donate it. Some owners may be moving, want more floor space, or just want to help an individual or organization that is less fortunate. Pool tables can be donated to organizations like local youth centers and church groups. A noncash tax deduction can be claimed after you donate a pool table to certain charities.

Instructions

    1

Clean the pool table and gather any items or accessories that came with it. Accessories that your pool table may have are pool cues and balls, a rack, chalk and brushes.

    2

Decide which charity you would like to donate the pool table to. Organizations such as Boys and Girls Club and The United Way accept this type of donations. Consider youth centers for troubled teens or group homes in your area, also.

    3

Determine if the charity or organization has the ability to pick up the pool table. If not, arrange for the move and delivery of the pool table to the drop-off location.

    4

Get a receipt when donating if the organization is 501(c) and the donation is tax deductible.
