Wedding Dinner Table Decoration Ideas

Wedding Dinner Table Decoration Ideas

Decorate your wedding table with colorful decorations and romantic touches that match the decor and colors of your wedding. These little accents are visually appealing elegant touches that dress up your table with romance. However, centerpieces are not the only accents that are needed. Choose table colors that match the colors of your wedding. For instance, if purple and white are your colors, choose a dark purple tablecloth with white china.

Flowers

If you want something simple and modern, use flowers to decorate your table. Space several vases in a row about five inches apart. Fill the vases with flowers to match the colors of your wedding. If the flowers for your ceremony were purple, fill the vases with the same purple flowers.

Silver Bells

If you love silver, use silver bells to decorate the center of the table. Place the bells in a row and space them about five or six inches apart. You can also group two bells in pairs together next to each plate to symbolize you and your partner. If you like, give the bells to your guests as wedding favors.

Glass Bowls with Floating Candles in Water

If you want something simple yet elegant, space several glass bowls on the table in a row. Fill the bowls with water and place floating candles in the bowl. As a finishing touch, sprinkle rose petals on the table around the bowls.

Candles and Rose Petals

Decorate your table with a row of large candles spaced about five inches apart. After your candles are in place, sprinkle rose petals around each candle. Select candle colors and roses that match the decor of your wedding. For instance, if your colors are red and white, use red or white candles and red and white rose petals.

Minature Paper Mache Wedding Cakes

If your are looking for something small and stylish, make three-tier wedding cakes out of paper mache. Use small round box molds and wrap wet paper mache around the mold. These boxes can be found in various sizes at craft stores. You will need three different sized boxes: for example, 15, 10, and 7 inches in circumference. You don't need to find these exact sizes, but be sure there are three different sizes (small, smaller and smallest). Place the largest box on the table and glue the bottom of the smaller box directly on top of the largest box. Then glue the bottom of the smallest box directly on top of the middle box.

If you plan on making at least seven cakes, cut out 80 or more 5- to 10-inch strips of newspaper and place in a pile. To make paper mache paste, mix one part water to one part flour and mix thoroughly. One cup of water and one cup of flour should make enough paper mache paste for one cake; adjust the recipe for the number of cakes you plan to make.
Dip one strip of newspaper in the bowl of paper mache and wipe off any excess. Wrap the strip around the circumference of the cake and continue building layers on the entire cake one strip at a time. Make the last (outermost) layer of paper mache out of white computer paper. This will absorb far less paint and make your painting job much easier. Allow the paper mache to dry completely before painting.

Once the framework is dry, simply paint the cakes pink with chocolate trim (or the colors of your choice) and add additional accents like bows or tiny chocolate flowers.
