How to Decorate With Random Books on a Coffee Table

A coffee table is more than just a piece of accent furniture that holds items; this piece of furniture serves as a decorative element that adds visual interest to a living space. Books are often items that are set out on a coffee table, as many people enjoy reading in the living space where the coffee table provides easy access to reading material. Instead of simply setting a pile of books in a haphazard manner on your coffee table, arrange them in a thoughtful manner and couple the books with other decorative accessories to add visual appeal to the room. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Determine the type of books you want to display on the coffee table. Large coffee table books that feature eye-catching photographs or novels, for example.

    2

Set the books out in a manner that is visually appealing. Avoid stacking the books in an untidy pile and instead arrange them in size ordered pile, with large books on the bottom and smaller books on top, which is particularly an ideal option for novels. Place the pile of books off to one side of the coffee table. If coffee table books are what you plan on displaying, set out only two or three and place them in a straight line next to one another. This will allow the bold photographs on the covers to be easily seen.

    3

Feature decorative accessories on top of the table along with the books. Create a rustic, country chic look by setting out a basket filled with pine cones on the opposite side of a pile of novels. Place a pillar candle in the center of a hurricane vase, fill the bottom of the vase with pebbles or shells, and set the candle in the middle of the table for a beach-themed room. For a modern look, set tea lights along the center of a silver tray and scatter colorful glass beads around the candles; set the tray in front of the coffee table books or in a vertical line on one end of the table.

    4

Display flowers on the table. Fill a wooden vase with a bouquet of wildflowers and place it next to the pile of novels. Showcase a tight clutch or roses or lilies in a crystal vase and place it next to the silver tray of candles.
