How to Publish a Coffee Table Book

A coffee table book needs to be eye catching and intriguing in order to be noticed by both publishing companies, and the viewing audience. Publishing a coffee table book is bit of a challenge, as is publishing a book of any sort, but it is well worth the effort.

Instructions

    1

The first step to publishing a coffee table book is to pick your niche. This type of book is often a sort of collection of some visually stimulating topic or another. Choose something that you are passionate about. Examples of published coffee table books are sunsets around the world, underwater sea creatures, or baby animals.

    2

In order to publish a coffee table book, gather knowledge about your topic of interest in order to provide at least a small, interesting teaser of knowledge for each page. Actually, your book may be of sayings, fun facts, or surveys relevant to your pictures.

    3

Keep it light. If you are going to publish this type of book you need to steer clear of heavy reading, or a full on history of your topic. A coffee table book is meant to quickly inspire, and should be light reading.

    4

When trying to get your book published, you must keep in mind that a coffee table book is meant to spark conversation, and provide a bit of amusement for its readers. You will have better chances of publishing your book if it has something unique to offer that many other books don't. In other words, what makes your book different? What will make the reader feel so interested that they are inclined to pick your book up off the table for a quick read?

    5

Find a publishing company that will work fairly with you. You don't want to be overly picky, especially as a new writer, but you also don't want to sell out your original ideas and end up feeling cheated.
