How to Build a Dining Room Table

You want to build a dining room table for two reasons. One is that it is much cheaper than buying one, and secondly you have the satisfaction of using a piece of furniture that you built yourself. Even though some professionally bought tables might be a little better, they do not bring you the same satisfaction. This article will help you build your own dining room table and give you that great feeling of accomplishment. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    1

Take the wood for the top and join it together with glue to form the base of the top. When you are done you should have a piece 6 by 4 feet in measurement. To this you will add the plywood piece to make your tabletop. Then attach the wood for the outer skirt to it on the outside edges, having done that you should have a basic tabletop built.

    2

Take the four leg posts and stand them up. Now take the wood for the underskirt and attach it to the legs, the legs being inside of the skirt wood. Join the skirt wood together to each other. There will now be four legs holding up a frame of skirt wood.

    3

Now you need to attach the bottom frame to the top you built earlier. First put the top on the bottom part and align the bottom to where it is in the middle of the top. Once that is achieved you can first use the glue gun and secondly put nails in. Be careful the nails stay up to the planks only.

    4

Finish your table with the choice of varnish color you like. But first sandpaper the table well so that it does not have any rough edges or splinters. Once it is done it would be ready to be varnished. Varnish the whole table and paying close attention to the top. That is what is going to get the most use.

    5

Once you table is varnished and dried you are ready to use it and show it off as your handiwork.
